Thieves make off with £100,000 haul

TRAILER and boxes full of training shoes together worth more than £100,000 have been stolen from a freight depot in North Lincolnshire.

Police believe a tractor was used to tow the goods away from the yard of Schenker Ltd, in Eastfield Road, South Killingholme.

It is thought the thieves transferred 144 boxes of Converse trainers from a parked trailer into an empty unit before towing the loaded trailer away.

The NTEX 1500 curtain-sided trailer is worth about 20,000, and the boxes each contained 12 pairs of trainers worth 86,000.

Police would like to speak to anyone who is offered cheap Converse trainers or who may have seen a tractor in the area of Eastfield Road before or after the incident between 7pm on Saturday and 4am the next day.

Pc Paul Hurrell said: "This is a very high value theft and we are appealing for anyone who may have information to contact Humberside Police."
