Third UK tourist in death fall on island

A British woman has died after reportedly falling from a hotel balcony in Majorca – the third Briton to die on the Spanish island in less than a month.

Charlotte Faris, who is understood to have been holidaying with a friend, plunged to her death in front of her hotel during the early hours of Saturday in the popular party resort of Magaluf.

The 28-year-old, from Stevenage, Herts, is understood to have checked into the Teix Hotel just hours earlier, having previously stayed at the same hotel in a visit to the resort last year.

The Foreign Office confirmed Ms Faris’s death yesterday.

A spokesman said: “We are aware and can confirm the death of British national Charlotte Faris in Majorca on May 5. We are providing consular assistance to her family.”

Benjamin Harper, 28, from Twickenham, south-west London, fell to his death at the four-star Sol Antillas hotel in Magaluf on April 20.

It is believed that the roofer, who had travelled to the resort as part of a stag party, had gone out on to the balcony for a cigarette before leaning over and falling to his death.

The incident came three days after the death of Adam Atkinson, from Castleford, West Yorkshire, who suffered fatal injuries when he reportedly fell from a stairwell at the Hotel Martinique in the same resort.

The 20-year-old, who worked at Xscape in Castleford, had travelled with friends to the three-star hotel just days after celebrating his birthday and was returning from a night out at 3am on Tuesday, April 17 when he fell.

He died in the intensive care unit at a hospital in the island’s capital Palma.
