Thousands join Great Yorkshire Run

The Great Yorkshire Run took place in Sheffield yesterday.

The BUPA event may not have seen any new records set, but it did provide a neck-and-neck finish, with the fastest two male competitors crossing the line just a second apart.

Fastest time on the day was recorded at 28 minutes and 50 seconds from Craig Mottram, who beat European 10,000 metre silver medallist Chris Thompson with a final sprint. The fastest time for a woman around the 10km course was one second over 33 minutes, but for many of the thousands taking part it was reward enough just to complete the course.
