Three guilty over 'cash for citizenship'

THREE company directors have been found guilty of conspiracy in connection with a "cash for citizenship" scam.

A jury at Sheffield Crown Court has found Liban Mohammed Yousif, Abdi Rashid Yusuf and Mustafa Yassin, all directors of City Wide Learning, guilty of conspiring to defraud the UK Border Agency between October 2005 and February 2007.

The company's administrator, Mubarak Yusuf, was also found guilty of the same offence.

The four men were all involved in arranging for false citizenship test certificates from Sheffield-based City Wide Learning to be provided for migrants across the country in return for cash.

Passing the Life in the UK test is a necessary prerequisite when applying for a British passport.

The jury is continuing its deliberations on Mehmet Ince and Halil Dari who are charged with the same offence.

Two middle men, Mohamad Jafari and Shpetim Ymeri, pleaded guilty to the offence at earlier hearings.
