Time-travelling Tardis lands for auction

A Tardis used to transport Christopher Eccleston around the galaxy has landed in more humdrum surroundings.

The Tardis was photographed at Bonhams auction house yesterday ahead of a sale of entertainment memorabilia.

Built in 2005 for the ninth Time Lord, it is expected to fetch up to 12,000 at an auction in London tomorrow.

A Dalek, which is expected to sell for 3,000, first appeared in Dr Who And The Daleks in 1964 and is thought to be the earliest surviving Dalek.

Previously unseen U2 photographs, Spitting Image puppets of John and Norma Major, and one of Eric Clapton's guitars are also going under the hammer.

Other items include a Liverpool airport notice autographed by The Beatles as they returned to their home city for a premiere of A Hard Day's Night in 1964.
