Tony Curtis dies: Star for six decades: Some Like it Hot among his 'legacy of great performances'

HOLLYWOOD is in mourning following the death of Tony Curtis at the age of 85.

Curtis, who starred in well over 100 Hollywood films during a career spanning six decades, died at his home in Nevada after a heart attack on Wednesday. He had been in poor health for several years.

The star's most celebrated role came alongside Jack Lemmon and Marilyn Monroe in the 1959 hit Some Like it Hot, still revered as one of cinema's greatest comedies. Curtis also received an Oscar nomination for The Defiant Ones, in which he starred with Sidney Poitier.

He was married six times and fathered six children, including actress Jamie Lee Curtis, who said yesterday he left "a legacy of great performances".
