Tourism chief to retire
The Woman who took the helm of Yorkshire’s tourism agency and saw it rebranded to the recognisable force it is today is to retire.
Welcome to Yorkshire chair Clare Morrow was appointed to Yorkshire Tourist Board in 2008 and oversaw the project to modernise the image of Yorkshire, recruiting chief executive Gary Verity and rebranding the agency. Within two years, Yorkshire’s tourism value went up from £6.3bn to over £7bn and the agency led the bid to bring the Grand Départ to Yorkshire. Ms Morrow, who was formerly the controller of programmes at ITV Yorkshire said it had been a “honour and a privilege” to lead the agency.
