Town goes back to swinging sixties

THE swinging sixties is set for a revival in Pickering next week, as enthusiasts gear up for the market town’s popular annual festival.

The Pickering 60s Festival, which is organised by a committee of residents, is being held for its fourth year on Friday, June 10, and Saturday, June 11.

The event features live sixties music, with a sixties tribute band playing in every pub in Pickering on both evenings of the festival, as well as a parade of classic sixties scooters and cars. Gearing up for the event are, from left, Doug Finch with his 1958 Hunslet Scootercar, Frank Atkinson and his 1969 Hillman Imp, Tommy Woodward and a 1960s Lambretta and Bruce Pickup and his 1962 Hillman Minx. The North Yorkshire Moors Railway will also be getting into the spirit, with a mix of period locomotives, vehicles and live music at stations. PICTURE: GERARD BINKS
