Tragic family funeral date fixed
THE funeral service for a mother and her two children believed to have been murdered by her husband will take place at Rawdon Crematorium on Tuesday morning.
Clair Smith, 36, Ben, nine and Aaron, 13 months, pictured above with her husband Richard Smith were killed at their home in Pudsey. Police were called to the house in Sheridan Way on December 11 where they found four bodies including that of the father, a 37-year-old quantity surveyor. An inquest heard that Aaron had been stabbed in the neck, the mother had been stabbed in the chest and there were signs that she had also been strangled. Ben died of suffocation due to obstruction of his neck and the effects of breathing in smoke. Mr Smith had died from smoke inhalation after the bedroom in which they were found had been set on fire.
