Driver arrested after boy, five, hit by car outside school

A FIVE-year-old boy is recovering in hospital after being hit by a car.

The accident occurred outside Marsden Junior School on Manchester Road at 3.20pm today.

West Yorkshire Police said the boy - a pupil at the school - was hit by a silver-coloured Honda. The driver has been arrested.

The boy was taken by ambulance to Huddersfield Royal Infirmary suffering from superficial cuts and bruises.

The A62 road which runs between Huddersfield and Manchester was closed for a while and a diversion was in place.

Anyone who has any information about the incident should contact Huddersfield Road Traffic Police.

A school spokeswoman confirmed the boy was a pupil at the school but declined to discuss the incident further.
