Woman treated in hospital after car goes into River Ouse in York

A woman was taken to hospital after a road collision in York which resulted in a car ending up in the River Ouse.

The woman, who is in her forties, was not seriously injured in the collision yesterday afternoon at around 4.30pm at Skeldergate Bridge.

North Yorkshire Police confirmed this morning that the car had been pulled from the water in the early hours of the morning.

Underwater divers from the Yorkshire and Humber Marine and Underwater Search Unit were sent down to ensure there had been no other occupants, finding no one.

The scene around Skeldergate Bridge has now been cleared.
