TV sports presenter Clare urges walkers to make Olympian effort

OLYMPICs presenter Clare Balding is encouraging walkers to make a marathon effort by signing up for next year’s first ever Jane Tomlinson’s Walk For All National Park Challenge.

Keen ramblers can trek around three of the UK’s most stunning national parks in the Peak District, the Yorkshire Dales and the Lake District as part of a new ‘Season Ticket’ offering for the charity’s 2013 programme.

Ms Balding, a long-standing supporter of the Leeds-based Jane Tomlinson Appeal, said: “The Walk for All Season Ticket is a brilliant idea.

“I’m so pleased friends and families will be able to enjoy the fun and the challenge of all the different walks for such a reasonable price.”

Ms Balding, who anchored Channel 4’s Paralympics coverage and was a main presenter for the BBC’s Olympic programming this summer, added: “I hope people will take the chance to explore the best of our countryside and do good while you’re at it.”

Walkers who choose to take on all three events can either tackle The Gauntlet – clocking up a total of 76 miles across the three walks – or the Triple Trekker – a more ‘modest’ 39 miles across the three routes.

Trekkers can also enter each event individually or walk a smaller course of five miles in each location: The Peak District walk takes place on Sunday, April 28, the Yorkshire Dales on Sunday, August 18 and the Lake District on Sunday, September 8.

Discounted entries, priced between £30 and £40, are available for those who sign up before January 1. Visit www.walkforall.com.
