Two arrested following train fight and stabbing

Police have arrested two people after a teenager was stabbed during a fight on a train.

The 17-year-old was in a critical condition following the disturbance involving a group of males on a London-bound train at Gillingham railway station in Kent at 6.15pm on July 24, British Transport Police (BTP) said.

The boy, from Dartford, was taken to Medway Hospital with stab wounds to his chest and abdomen and he underwent surgery there, the spokesman said. He was later discharged but has since been arrested on suspicion of violent disorder.

A 20-year-old man from Greenwich in south London was also arrested at the weekend on suspicion of the same offence, police said.

The teenager and the man have both been bailed pending further inquiries and will return to police stations in Kent and London on August 31, the spokesman said.
