Two-month reprieve for carers’ centre
Hull Council was due to remove funding from the Carers Centre, Hull, this week, which has been providing support to carers in the city since 1999.
A three-year contract was to be awarded to City Health Care Partnership instead.

Hide AdAt yesterday’s full council meeting, Labour councillors announced that due to a Liberal Democrat “call-in,” the current funding arrangements had been extended for two months.
Coun Abigail Bell said: “Now we’re waiting for a meeting on July 2 in the hope we can persuade the council to think again.
“There are a lot of questions that need answering about the whole process.
“I’m still astonished that the Labour-run Council chose Carers’ Week to announce funding had been slashed for the centre.”
