Arctic explorer aged 16 gets to Pole in four days
A 16-year-old boy is celebrating after he skied to the North Pole in an expedition which took only four days.
Parker Liautaud, who is one of the youngest people to ever complete the challenge, arrived at the top of the world one week ahead of schedule.
The teenager and his teammate Doug Stoup were the first adventurers to return from a successful trip to the geographical North Pole since the Arctic airstrip was completed last week. Their trip was delayed by three days because of adverse weather conditions at the site of the Borneo Ice Airfield.
Parker, a pupil at Eton, finished the 112km (69.5 miles) trek, expected to last up to two weeks, in four days, two hours and 47 minutes.
