Cuts to shut nine police stations

A police force plans to shut nine police stations as it grapples with a massive cut in its budget.

Gloucestershire Police are making £18m of cuts over the next four years and the stations will be sold off. Instead “police points” will be located in council buildings, libraries and schools but the force insists there will still be a “very visible” police presence.

The future of a further eight stations remains in the balance as further discussions between the force and affected communities takes place.
