Family presses for inquiry on Dubai death

The family of a British tourist who died in police custody in Dubai said they “will not rest” until they find out the circumstances surrounding his death.

Lee Brown, 39, was arrested after being accused of trying to throw a female housekeeper off an internal balcony at the luxury Burj Al Arab hotel.

Local authorities said he hit his head against a wall while resisting but this did not cause his death on April 12, when, witnesses have claimed, police officers punched and kicked him during his time in custody

His brother Steven Brown travelled to Dubai with his wife Susanne last week to push for an independent investigation.

A post-mortem examination has already concluded that he died from choking on his own vomit.
