Full inquests on bombers ruled out

The inquests into the deaths of Mohammed Sidique Khan, Shehzad Tanweer, Hasib Hussain and Jermaine Lindsay, who grew up in Huddersfield but was living in Aylesbury at the time of the 2005 attacks, had been opened and adjourned pending the conclusion of court cases and last year Lady Justice Hallett ruled she would not make a decision on whether to hear them in full until their families had time to consider their wishes.

Yesterday she revealed none of the relatives had made a request for the inquests to be heard.

The only submissions made came from an organisation called the July 7th Truth Campaign, which she ruled had provided insufficient reason to resume the hearings and did not meet the legal criteria necessary.

She concluded: “In the light of the position adopted by their families, and given that the inquests into the deaths of the 52 victims have led to the most rigorous scrutiny of the events of 7 July 2005, I can find no cause whatsoever to resume the inquests into the deaths of the four men.”
