High praise from Sam Cam for ‘inspirational’ cafe’s cappuccino

Mrs Cameron visited the Spoon Cafe in Glasgow, a project for people with learning and physical difficulties, yesterday morning.

She said it was an “inspirational” visit.

The cafe is a social enterprise in the city centre’s Trongate area, giving young people and adults work experience in a busy catering environment.

Mrs Cameron said: “It is great to visit such an inspirational social enterprise project giving people with learning disabilities real job opportunities right in the heart of the city.

“Definitely the best cappuccino I have had north of the border.”

Dressed in a striking red top and trousers, Mrs Cameron chatted to volunteer Paula Sage over a coffee.

George McSorley, chief executive of Unity Enterprise, which runs the cafe, said everyone was “delighted” by her visit.

He said: “Her visit helps to highlight the importance of social enterprise in giving young people the training they need.”

Mrs Cameron also attended the Scottish Fashion Awards in Glasgow on the previous evening as ambassador to the British Fashion Council.

She presented the top award, Scottish Fashion Designer of the Year 2011, to Jonathan Saunders, who won for the second time. Winners also included Tali Lennox, daughter of Annie Lennox, who scooped Scottish Model of the Year.
