Hurley and son help launch
first high street care unit

The actress was accompanied by 12-year-old Damian as she cut the ribbon at the new centre which is run by the charity Hop Skip and Jump, of which she is patron.

Based in a shopping centre in Swindon in Wiltshire, the unit is designed to provide flexible care for children and adults who need help with disabilities and additional needs.

Facilities at the new unit include a soft-play area, sensory rooms and a chill-out zone, as well as a wet room and changing facilities, and a charity shop.

Clarissa Mitchell, the founder of Hop Skip and Jump, said: “This is an exciting innovation and a new concept of care. We look forward to providing high quality support for the disabled in a high-profile town centre location.

“The Brunel Centre has responded marvellously to our vision for the future and we look forward to welcoming families from Swindon, Wiltshire and the surrounding counties, who can enjoy everything the shopping centre has to offer.”

Ms Hurley gave birth to her son in 2002, after a brief relationship with American businessman, Steve Bing.

Her ex-partner, actor Hugh Grant, is the godfather to Damian.
