Major delay after floods at Grand Prix car park

MOTORISTS experienced long tailbacks on the M1 down to Silverstone as traffic heading to the F1 British Grand Prix were delayed by the venue’s car parks flooding.

Vehicles were being guided into the venue and Silverstone’s Woodlands Campsite will be operating a full wet weather plan for this weekend’s event.

The rain caused delayed journey times across Yorkshire. This was added to in Leeds after a fire broke out at a former bus station on one of the city’s main commuter roads.

Three fire engines and an aerial ladder unit were called out to tackle the fire in Kirkstall Road at rush hour at around 5.10pm yesterday.
