Man charged over Ulster bomb murder

Police investigating the murder of Police Constable Ronan Kerr have charged a man with terrorism offences.

The suspect, 33, is accused of possession of firearms and explosives with the intent to endanger life and possession of articles likely to be of use in terrorism.

Pc Kerr, 25, died earlier this month when a booby trap bomb exploded under his car in Omagh, Co Tyrone, Northern Ireland.

At the time of the killing police blamed dissident republicans for targeting the Roman Catholic officer.

The suspect will appear at Dungannon Magistrates’ Court, Tyrone, today. He is the first individual to be charged. Two others were released earlier this week.
