Nurses are suspended in baby probe

*Five nurses have been suspended from a hospital’s children’s ward after claims that a baby was restrained, according to reports.

Police and NHS chiefs confirmed they are investigating an incident at Scunthorpe General Hospital in Lincolnshire.

The alleged restraint is said to have taken place on the Disney Ward, which looks after children aged from a few days up to 16 years old, the BBC reported.

Wendy Booth, head of governance for Northern Lincolnshire and Goole Hospitals NHS Trust, said: “We can confirm an incident has occurred which the trust is investigating. We are keeping the family fully informed. It would not therefore be appropriate to comment further at this stage.”

The NHS trust declined to confirm any details about what happened and a Humberside Police spokesman confirmed that a complaint was being investigated but was in its very early stages.
