Rail delays as man dies

THE East Coast main line between London and Yorkshire was temporarily closed last night after a person was struck and killed by a train.

Journeys were delayed by between two and three hours with many commuters struggling to make journeys north after the line was closed at Grantham. Leeds North West MP Greg Mulholland was one of many affected and had to cancel a trip from Parliament to attend a meeting in Leeds.

British Transport Police said they were called out shortly before 4.15pm. Inquiries into the identity of the man were continuing.
