HORSES took to the water in the River Eden yesterday as people prepared to sell them at a major annual gathering of gipsies and travellers.
Appleby Horse Fair in Cumbria is expected to attract record levels of visitors over the next five days.
The event, which runs until Wednesday, will see up to 10,000 gipsies and travellers attend. However it is expected to attract more attention this year after featuring on Channel 4’s My Big Fat Gypsy Wedding.
