‘Talk’ call in wake of girl’s rail tragedy

The family of a teenage model believed to have committed suicide on a railway line have urged other teenagers to talk about their problems.

A-level student Gabrielle Joseph died after being struck by a train on Easter Monday.

Hundreds of mourners turned out at Margam Crematorium, near Port Talbot, South Wales, yesterday to pay their last respects to the popular 16-year-old – who was known to friends as Gabby.

One of her aunts, speaking at the funeral, said Gabby’s family were comforted by the scores of tributes paid to the Gower College Gorseinon student, who had been working for fashion chain Hollister.

On the back of the pink-coloured order of service was a telephone number for the Samaritans.

British Transport Police are continuing their investigation into Gabby’s death, which is not being treated as suspicious.

Officers are assisting local coroner Philip Rogers with his inquiry into events before the teenager died.
