On the trail of Moore inspiration

Inspired by Reclining Woman by the great Leeds artist Henry Moore, this sculpture will soon turn heads as it did when Emma Tregidden, the creative director of the city’s Space2 arts project, helped carry it along the Headrow with Steve Dearden, associate producer of Leeds Canvas.

The piece will join an arts trail between York Road and Oakwood Lane as part of the cultural Olympiad that the organisers say will ‘offer a new way of looking at the Wykebeck Valley area of East Leeds’ when it takes place on Sunday.

Another piece on display will be a giant knitted picnic blanket while contemporary dance, sound sculptures and a rousing community choir will also entertaining the unsuspecting. The event is to encourage local people ‘to take the lead as artists in their areas’.
