Video: 6,000 compete in Leeds Half Marathon

Runners took part in the Jane Tomlinson Leeds Half Marathon yesterday.

The event was formerly run by Leeds City Council but was taken over this year by the Jane Tomlinson For All Events team, the same organisation behind the Leeds 10K event.

The new partnership with Run For All has allowed the event to develop and six weeks ago demand for places meant the capacity was raised by 1,000 places to 6,000.

Once the 13-mile event had set off yesterday, the free Arena Leeds Junior and Mini Runs took place. Junior runners, aged nine to 14, raced a 2.5km course and the minis, aged three to eight, ran 1.5km with an adult. Children from schools across the city also competed in a schools challenge.
