Vintage hopes for Yorkshire vineyard

Vineyard owner George Bowden checks his grapes using a refractometer for ripeness at the Leventhorpe Vineyard near Leeds as the weather forecast predicts another wet and cool week.

With a predicted good vine harvest following a good spring and the area missing much of the summer rain, which should also help towards a good vintage, grape picking will begin in a couple of weeks when the Leventhorpe vines will produce red, white and sparkling English wines.
