Unseasonal cold set to continue

The Yorkshire weather outlook for the rest of the week is bleak, with a number of snow showers and sharp winds expected on and off over the next few days.

Today is expected to be very cold, with heavy snow showers in the afternoon – especially in the south of the region – and a fairly significant fall on top of what has already settled.

A brisk north-easterly wind will then carry on from later today through until Wednesday, with a risk of more snow showers from the east throughout the week.

However the winds should drop by Friday, when it is forecast to be generally dry but cold across Yorkshire.

Temperatures will be about freezing at best in many parts of the region during the day and drop to around minus five degrees at night.

It is forecast to warm up slightly at the weekend but temperatures will still remain unseasonably low.
