Up to 100 council jobs face the axe
The Labour-run adminstration at Hull Council is proposing a 1.95 per cent rise in council tax - just under the level which could trigger a referendum.
However Coun Daren Hale said between 50 and 100 jobs could go, through voluntary redundancy and deleting vacant posts. He said: “The council spends a quarter less than it did in 2010. If the Government gets in their austerity plans would take out the same again in the next Parliament which means council spending would be half what it was in 2010. We hope they don’t win, but we are having to prepare to do a similar amount of services on half the money.”
