Visitor services manager Moira Smith dressed as an elf to look through through the five gold rings. The trail is open every day from December 26 to January 5 from 9am to 4pm and follows the river bank through Strid Wood, a Site of Special Scientific Interest.

Strid Wood is said to be one of the largest remnants of sessile oak trees in the Yorkshire Dales and the site is home to many rare species of ground flora and fauna.
