Village shares in big day as vicar marries ex-model, 35

A VILLAGE vicar who married a former model 20 years his junior at the weekend invited the whole community to celebrate the wedding.

The Rev Andrew Allington, 54, who has conducted over 100 weddings, was finally the bridegroom as he married extreme sports fanatic Hazel Trudgen, 35.

The ceremony was conducted by the Bishop of Doncaster, the Rt Rev Cyril Ashton, who shares a passion for motorbikes with the new vicar’s wife.

The couple’s unusual love story began when they met at a fete in Stainforth, Doncaster a year ago. The vicar proposed within weeks, calling it “passion at first sight”.

Local residents and businesses all helped out with the special day St Mary’s Church in Stainforth, near Doncaster.

Around 400 friends, relations and parishioners attended and guests gathered in a marquee provided by Thorne Rural Lions, with music provided by Hatfield Brass Band and Doncaster Wheatsheaf singers.

Mrs Allington describes herself as an “adrenalin junkie”, and said: “I didn’t think I was cut out to be a vicar’s wife.

“I suppose I was a bit of an action girl. I even raced superbikes. But before I knew it I was falling in love with the village vicar.”
