Violinist,17, named top young musician as festival closes

TALENTED youngsters raised the roof with a showcase performance to mark the final week of the 74th Harrogate Competitive Festival for Music, Speech and Drama.

The up-and-coming musicians dazzled a packed crowd at Harrogate Ladies College with the brass, percussion and bands section ensuring the three-week festival went out with a bang.

Violinist Becky Else, 17, of Harrogate, was named Young Musician of the Festival and will attend the Northern College of Music next year.
