Visitors declare rhubarb and custard garden cream of crop

ITS VIP visitors included the Queen and Yorkshire-born gardening guru Alan Titchmarsh, and now visitors to the Chelsea Flower Show have named the "Welcome to Yorkshire Rhubarb Crumble and Custard Garden" as the best garden at this year's horticultural celebration.

The prestigious People's Choice award is voted for by the tens of thousands of people who visited the Royal Horticultural Society's annual show, and crowns a memorable week for Yorkshire gardens, which won a string of prestigious awards.

These included a gold medal for Leeds Council's canal creation and a silver medal for the eyecatching rhurbab design.
