Volvo gets ready to reduce emissions
VOLVO is really getting to grips with lowering emissions. This week it announced that almost all its 2013 model year S60, V60, V70 and S80 diesel cars will have emissions below 120g/km. The new engine line up will be D2 with 113.4bhp, D3 with 134bhp, D4 with 160.7bhp and D5 with 212bhp. CO2 emissions range from 114g/km for the S60 and only the D5 version of the V70 exceeds the 120g/km mark, with 126g. The D3 is a new entry-level five-cylinder turbo and will also be available with automatic gears. The D2 engine combined with automatic Powershift gearbox comes with the same low fuel consumption and CO2 levels as the manual versions in the Volvo S60, V60, V70 and S80. Its maximum torque is 258 lb ft, making it a key seller for the private and business driver. The new units signal the end of the DRIVe badge, currently used to identify the models with the lowest CO2. Expect UK deliveries in the summer.
MG has achieved CO2 savings on its 2012 MG6 GT and MG6 Magnette models. They drop from 184g/km to 174g/km, bringing a reduction in road tax and £40 price drop, starting at £16,995. Combined mpg improves from 35.6 to 37.7mpg.
Skoda’s Citigo will cost from £7,630 when it goes on sale in June. Seat’s Mii version will cost from £7,845 – also below the starting point of £7,995 for the VW up! – just named world car of the year. All are made in the same factory and have but minor trim differences.
