HAIRDRESSERS and care assistants are among those being asked to donate their time to help sufferers of life-limiting illnesses.

Dove House Hospice, a palliative care facility in Hull, is looking to add to its cohort of 550 local volunteers.

Lindsay Mason, Volunteer Services Manager, said: “Everyone has a talent that can help us to enhance our patients’ quality of life and our volunteers do so much in all sorts of different areas.

“At the moment we are particularly keen to attract care assistants and hairdressers to the therapy and support unit, as well as escorts who can provide companionship and support to our patients as they are driven to and from the hospice.

“We also require retail assistants in our stores who, for example, can help with serving customers, stocking the shops and window dressing.”

Team colleague Sylvia Dent added: “People are often surprised at just how important their support is, no matter how much time they are able to give us, and we want to make the whole process better for everyone.”
