Wanted: Police hunt man in connection with attempted murder at nightclub

Detectives are asking for the public's help in the hunt for a man wanted in connection with an attempted murder in a nightclub.

Joseph Lowther, 21, is being sought by police following the incident at Whispers nightclub in Barnsley on December 18.

A 30-year-old man received a suspected stab injury at around 1am while at the nightclub in Regent Street.

He was taken to hospital but has since been released.

Officers believe Lowther, who is originally from Barnsley, may have travelled out of South Yorkshire and has previous connections around the north of England.

A South Yorkshire Police spokesman said: "If you see Lowther, you are advised not to approach him but to contact police."

Anyone who may hold information about Lowther’s whereabouts is asked to call South Yorkshire Police on 101, quoting incident number 64 of 18 December 2016.
