Warning over thefts from vehicles
In one incident in Crosslands Lane, North Cave, 300 litres of diesel was siphoned from a lorry’s fuel tank.
Det Insp Paul Kirby, from Humberside Police, said: “Please ensure your work sites are locked, secure and that there is adequate fencing that can prevent entry to a criminal. Other methods such as PIR lighting, CCTV and anti-climb paints are also good preventative measures.

“I would also advise residents not to purchase cheep diesel in what may appear to be a good deal as they may also be committing offences such as handling stolen property. Despite the cost of diesel, it is generally purchased from filling stations and not from a container out the back of a van.”
