Long delays as crash closes M62

DRIVERS in West Yorkshire faced long delays today after the closure of the M62 westbound following an accident involving a lorry and a pedestrian.

The carriageway was closed this morning between junction 20 and junction 19 near Rochdale.

The incident happened at around 9am and a police incident investigation, likely to take several hours, is underway.

Drivers are being told to follow a diversion on the A627(M) at Slattocks.

Long delays were reported along the M62 out of West Yorkshire towards Manchester, with drivers advised to avoid the area.

The carriageway reopened later this morning but delays continued, with drivers reporting travel times of 20 minutes to travel just a few miles.
