Police warn drivers not to travel as snow settles across West Yorkshire

Police have warned West Yorkshire drivers not to travel today as snow settles across the county.

Heavy snow is forecast from 8am to 2pm in Leeds, with light snow continuing to fall until 7pm.

The Met Office has issued a yellow weather warning for snow and ice, warning that drivers could get stuck in snowy conditions, particularly on higher routes.

Delays to road and rail services are expected and Flyer buses between Leeds Bradford Airport and Harrogate have already been cancelled.

West Yorkshire Police have urged drivers to avoid travelling today.

The force's Contact Management Centre tweeted a picture of the snow and said: "So the car park was clear half an hour ago. Covered now.

"Snow is forecast for most of the day so avoid travelling today."
