Storms across region and flood warning issued for North Yorkshire

THE Environment Agency has issued a flood warning for the River Ure in Boroughbridge, North Yorkshire.

Strong winds meant restrictions were put in place for motorists travelling on the M62 at Ouse Bridge in West Yorkshire.

The conditions around the country should not be as severe as on Tuesday when violent storms and driving rain brought the disappointing summer to an abrupt end.

The winds are expected to die down by Thursday but more showers are forecast.

But the conditions should not be as severe as yesterday when violent storms and driving rain brought the disappointing summer to an abrupt end.

Met Office forecaster Charlie Powell said: “Today will still be quite breezy and windy but we will not see the same kind of gusts we saw yesterday.

“Cloud is expected in the south of the UK but it should be dry with the exception of one of two showers.”
