Web of justice: Infestation of spiders closes Hull courtroom

AN infestation of spiders was blamed for the closure of a Yorkshire courtoom.

Cases due to be heard in Court Three of Hull Crown Court had to be shifted after the creatures were spotted.

Judge Jeremy Richardson QC, who was part way through a trial in a courtroom nearby told jurors: “It will be closed for one day and the other cases will be transferred to another courtoom.

“The spiders haven’t come into this courtroom I am pleased to tell you. It is being sorted out over the weekend.”

A court spokeswoman confirmed the courtroom had been closed for cleaning.
