Wet Wet Wet to play at the races

Wet Wet Wet are to perform at York Races in the latest concert at the circuit.

The chart-topping band will be the headline act on the second day of the Music Showcase Meeting, which combines sport and music. The racecourse has hosted gigs by other major names in music in recent years including Kaiser Chiefs and McFly. Tickets for the afternoon’s racing followed by Wet Wet Wet’s open-air concert on July 26 went on sale yesterday.

The head of marketing and sponsorship at York Racecourse, James Brennan, said: “Already established as the most popular raceday of its type, we are thrilled to announce that Wet Wet Wet will perform here this year. When combined with some of the best thoroughbreds in the country, we believe we’re on to a winner by attracting Wet Wet Wet in 2014.”

Wet Wet Wet will play on a giant trackside stage after the final race has finished. Tickets for the event are on sale online at www.yorkraceourse.co.uk or by telephone on 01904 620911.
