Wildlife fears over housing plan on farm

SEVEN objectors are trying to stop the development of 124 homes on land in Queensbury at Bradford.

Bellway Homes Ltd has submitted plans for a housing estate on land at Harrowins Farm, which is bounded by Park Lane and Brighouse and Denholme Road.

The land has previously been designated for housing use and Bradford Council granted outline permission for 155 homes in 2011.

Objectors have claimed that access to the main road for the site is unsuitable and unsafe.

They also say that wildlife and trees will suffer.

Councillors will discuss the scheme at a meeting on August 29.

A planning report says the proposals should be given permission.

On the subject of road safety, the report says that the developer has agreed to facilitate junction improvements at Scarlet Heights and on Brighouse and Denholme Road.

A wildlife survey submitted by the developer recommends a ‘buffer strip’ between the houses and a designated wildlife area in nearby woodland.

In total 17 trees will be removed from the site but some are already in a poor condition.
