Witnesses sought to sex attacks in city

POLICe are hunting men who carried out sexual assaults on two women in Sheffield in broad daylight.

Last Tuesday, July 31, a woman was returning to her car in Effingham Street, Attercliffe, at about 5.45pm when a man approached her from behind and sexually assaulted her.

He then ran off across a bridge in the direction of Savile Street.

A police spokesman said: “The man is described as white, approximately 5ft 8ins tall, of medium build. He was wearing a red and black walking jacket, with a rucksack on his back.”

Two days earlier, on Sunday, July 29, a 21-year-old woman was outside a block of flats in Blast Lane, Park Hill, at 7.30pm when a man again approached her from behind and assaulted her.

He is described as skinny, more than 5ft 3ins tall and in his mid 20s. He was wearing dark blue jeans and a black T-shirt at the time of the assault.
