Woman, 27, given region's first drink banning order

POLICE in Doncaster have handed out South Yorkshire's first-ever drink banning order to a 27-year-old woman, for her "persistent alcohol-fuelled anti-social behaviour."

Hanane Elfidh is now banned from being drunk in public and also from entering any pub or club in Tickhill. Police applied for the DBO after she repeatedly offended over a five-month period in and around Doncaster, particularly in the Tickhill area.

Pc Martin Smith from the anti-social behaviour unit in Doncaster said: "Drink banning orders are now in place in Doncaster and we will take full advantage of now being able to apply for DBOs on conviction by targeting individuals whose behaviour when under the influence of alcohol is a cause for concern. With the support of the courts, the issuing of such orders has the potential to make a positive impact on drink-related anti-social behaviour and criminality throughout the district."
