Murder squad detectives are hunting the killer of an 86-year-old woman found battered to death in her home.

Jean Jobson, known as Pat, suffered head injuries in an attack at her house in Oakridge Road, Bromley, south east London.

Her body was found on Sunday evening after worried relatives contacted police who forced their way inside her home.

Detective Chief Inspector Cliff Lyons, who is leading the inquiry, said Mrs Jobson was the victim of a “horrendous” crime.

He said a post-mortem examination found she received extensive head injuries and was subjected to a “substantial and concerted” attack.

Mr Lyons said: “The post-mortem has confirmed she was the victim of a substantial and concerted effort by her attacker. This is a horrendous crime.”

Mr Lyons added that Mrs Jobson was attacked with a weapon, but declined to comment further on what it may have been.

Detectives are investigating whether anything was stolen from her home.

Mrs Jobson often helped neighbours by picking up shopping and walking their dogs.
