Woman attacked in £70,000 burglary

A woman was attacked in her home by raiders who fled with tens of thousands of pounds worth of jewellery.

The victim was confronted by three men – two wearing balaclavas and one brandishing a claw hammer – when she answered the door of her home in Southway in the Horsforth area of Leeds at about midday on Friday.

The men threatened the woman, demanded to know where the safe was and forced her to hand over her rings. Other rings were pulled from her fingers.

She was punched in the face and bundled into a downstairs toilet while the men searched bedrooms before fleeing with jewellery and watches worth about 70,000. The victim suffered minor injuries and was left badly shaken.

The man with the hammer was white, about 5ft 7in, stocky, clean shaven, with a rosy or tanned complexion, and had blond or brown hair cut short but slightly frizzy. He was wearing a high-visibility yellow vest.

The other two men were wearing dark clothing. The three are believed to have driven off in a black hatchback car.
