Woman dead in Grimsby house fire

Officers on patrol in the area spotted the blaze at the property on Westward Ho at about 5.20pm and called firefighters to the scene.

The road was closed from Bargate while crews battled the flames.

A Humberside Police spokesman said: “Sadly a woman who has not yet been identified was found dead inside the address.

“Investigations into the cause of the fire are ongoing.”

Fire investigation officers will be assisting police tomorrow to establish whether there are any suspicious circumstances.
